The Bretons farm 11 hectares of vines just east of Bourgueil. They produce Chinon and Bourgueil, creating honest wines for both early consumption and longer aging. They have become icons for the natural wine movement and have started the process of biodynamic certification. Perrieres is Breton’s greatest red. The soil is clay and limestone, and old vines give very low yields. Maceration, fermentation, and élevage is done in old wood. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered after two full years in 550L barrique.
