2014 Bourgogne Aligote "Champ Forey" Sylvain Pataille

Having always dreamed of being a winemaker Sylvain Pataille realized his ambition in 1999. He began in his childhood village of Marsannay-la-Cote with only 1 hectare. Today the estate has 14 hectares. Sylvain is a true rising star of the Cote de Nuits. In 2013 Patialle first experimented with releasing his Aligote Dore vineyards unblended, into four different cuvees. Becky Wasserman says about the Champ Forey: "Vineyard: 0.3 hectares of 55-year-old vines, soils with lots of small limestone rocks. Pure, delicate and briny nose. The attack is salty, the mid-palate is direct and linear, and the finish incredibly detailed and complex. A classic Aligoté Doré, with the limestone scree beautifully displaying the variety’s Chablis-like, oyster-shell saltiness."

2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Poissenot Humbert

Emmanuel and Frederic Humbert took the reins of their family 6-hectare estate in 1989. They have been devoted to continuously improving the quality of their wines and remaining part of the Gevery-Chambertain community. It is here where they apply the combined knowledge and experience of their friends, family and neighbors with their own. The pair are complimentary to each other. Emmanuel is the driving force with unrelenting passion and dedication to the vines; Fredrick is the more reserved thoughtful type. Their methods put emphasis on manual labor and tending each vine, where ploughing and green harvesting are done with utmost care. The fruit undergoes a pre-fermentation soak to avoid over extraction of underripe tannins.
