2014 Saumur Champigny Franc de Pied Domaine des Roches Neuves

Germain took the risky approach of planting a small portion of his vineyard with own-rootstock vines, known in French as "franc de pied". These non-grafted Cabernet Franc vines were planted in sandy soil, which naturally resists the development of phylloxera, with a planting density of 10,000 vines/hectare and are pruned in gobelet en echalas (on stakes as in the ancient vineyards of Mt Etna). The soil is worked with a horse because at this density it is impossible to use mechanized equipment.Annual production 80 cases

2007 Pernand Vergelesses 1er Cru Ille des Vergelesses Chandon Brialles

Owned by Comte and Comtesse Aymard-Claude de Nicolay and their children. The Comte had himself inherited from his grandmother, who was connected to the champagne house of Moët et Chandon. The domaine is certified Biodynamic since 2010. This wine comes from clay and limestone; more clayey at the bottom of the parcel and very calcareous at the top; shows complex aromas of pear and tropical fruits and a great minerality. This is a very elegant and refined choice for the summer table.
